MWM Landscaping & Grading recently completed a 3-acre hydroseeding project in Zebulon, NC, using a high-quality contractors mix designed specifically for erosion control. The job focused on protecting steep hillsides, ditches, and swales from soil loss due to heavy rains and runoff—common challenges in North Carolina’s variable weather. Hydroseeding proved to be the ideal solution for this large-scale site, as it allows for quick, uniform application over expansive and hard-to-reach terrain where traditional seeding or sodding would be inefficient or ineffective.
The process involves spraying a specialized slurry that combines seed, mulch, fertilizer, and an enhanced tackifier (a bonding agent) directly onto the prepared soil. We incorporated extra tack in our mix to ensure superior adhesion, helping the material “stick” firmly to the steep slopes and preventing washout during germination. This creates an immediate protective layer that reduces erosion impact from rainfall, retains moisture for better seed establishment, and promotes rapid vegetation growth. Within weeks, the roots begin anchoring the soil, forming a natural barrier that stabilizes the ground long-term.
At MWM Landscaping & Grading, we’re proud to deliver reliable erosion control and landscaping solutions across the Raleigh area and beyond, including Zebulon. Hydroseeding stands out for its speed, cost-effectiveness on large or sloped areas, and excellent results in preventing costly soil erosion.
